About this Blog

7 Reasons I Created This Family History Blog

  1. There are over 100 years worth of family history and memories stored in boxes at my house.  I had a lot of them scrap booked at one time, then the acid free thing happened and I tore it all apart to redo it. That’s as far as I got.  It’s all sitting in boxes.  Not even acid free boxes!

  2. When friends had to evacuate for the recent wildfires, here in Colorado, it gave me cause to think about all my boxes of scrap crap and family history.  How I would manage to take them with me if I had to evacuate.  What would I regret leaving behind?

  3. Meaningful and interesting histories of my ancestors could be compiled from the memorabilia in my boxes.  In some cases they will be short, but what little I have is all that’s left of them in this world.

  4. As the oldest living member of my family, there is no one who remembers more about those who’ve gone before than I do.

  5. My children will appreciate completed memory and baby books.  Yes,even my sons like to look at the scrapbooks I have made.  I know that if my sons each inherit a box of stuff when I die, that is all it will ever be.  A box of stuff in the trash.  Or maybe they will give it all to my poor daughter and she will have the same mess to deal with that I have.

  6. It is my hope that I will be able to help and inspire others to deal with their own boxes of memories and family history.

  7. I would like to believe that I am not the only person in the world in this situation.

Please tell me that my ancestors and I are not the only hoarders of souvenirs, photographs, miscellaneous paperwork and other memorabilia out there!
